Major Jeff Helms received his commission as a Field Artillery officer in 1991.  Since that time, he has been stationed at Fort Carson, CO, Schofield Barracks, HI, West Point, NY, and Giessen, Germany.  In his previous assignment, he deployed to Iraq for 14 months, returning in February 2007.  He currently lives in Jonesboro, Arkansas with his family.

Education:  BS, Systems Engineering, United States Military Academy, 1991. MS, Counseling and Leadership Development, Long Island University, 2001. Command and General Staff College, 2004. 

Source of Commission:  United States Military Academy at West Point, NY 

Duty Positions:  Infantry Company Fire Support Officer (FSO), Service Battery Executive Officer (XO) and Battalion Ammunition Officer, Firing Battery XO, 4th Division Artillery Deputy Adjutant, 25th Infantry Division Training Management Officer, Infantry Battalion FSO, FA Battalion Assistant Operations Officer, Battery Commander, Cadet Company Tactical Officer, Armor Brigade FSO, FA Battalion XO, Professor of Military Science Arkansas State University

MAJ Hastings is a native of Arkansas. He joined the National Guard at the age of 17 where he has served for the past 21 years. He lives in Jonesboro with his wife of 19 years Valerie and his two daughters Hali (16) and Paige (14).
 
MAJ Hastings' hobbies include: riding motorcycles, SCUBA diving, and camping.
